About the League
The League of Competitive Scholars (LOCS) was founded by Alex Dayel, a two-time National History Bee qualifier, international piano champion, and founder of his school’s Geography Bee team. Alex believes that academic competitions do more than test what you know: they teach focus, resilience, teamwork, and joy in discovery. LOCS exists to help more students experience that same spark.“Curiosity starts it. Competition shapes it. Community carries it.”LOCS gives students and schools the tools to start, coach, and host their own academic teams — expanding access, building confidence, and spreading a culture of fair, incisive learning.
